U.S. Figure Skating (USFS), the official governing body for the sport of figure skating, recognizes the Professional Skaters Association (PSA) as the official organization for education, training, and certification of figure skating coaches. All PSA members are encouraged to attend coaching workshops and pursue ratings certification.

The Ames Figure Skating Club (AFSC) supports the goals of the PSA. All professional coaches of the AFSC are members of the PSA and encouraged to pursue PSA coaching ratings. Ratings indicate a coach’s level of coaching expertise. PSA ratings are as follows from lowest to highest:
