The Ames Figure Skating Club purchases ice times specificly to support the Figure Skating sport. This Club Ice time is available to all Ames Club Members and Associate Club Members throughout the skating year. Club Members have three options when considering the purchase of Club Ice Contracts:
  1. Hourly Ice Contract - skaters can select the specific days that work best for their schedule. This is a good option for skaters looking to skate 1-3 hours a week
  2. All-inclusive Ice Contract - skaters can skate on all ice times avaialable throughout the week. This is a good option for skaters looking to skate 3+ hours a week
  3. Walk-On - skaters can elect to pay a slightly higher price and walk-on the ice when they are available. Club Ice is limited to 20 skaters per session and walk-ons are based on availablity. This is a good option for skaters looking to skate a few times a month.

Club Ice provides skaters with addition time to focus on their figure skating skills and work one-on-one with their coach. In addition to practice time, ice contracts and walk-ons can include weekly classes; see the Club Ice Schedule below for specific times. Each time a Skater takes they ice they are asked to sign in to the Club computer with their unique PIN before taking the ice. The Club computer is located on the ice during Club Ice time; see an Ice Monitor if you have any questions. It is important that skaters wear the designated lesson and music vests while on Club ice. Lesson vests are used while skaters are in a lesson with a coach and music vests should be worn when skaters are playing their program music. Ice Monitors will be on hand during each Club Ice session should you have any questions.

Ice Monitor Sign Up

Picture
The Ames Figure Skating Club relies on our parent volunteers to keep our Club ice time safe for all. Please consider signing up for an Ice Monitor position through our Signup Genius. AFSC invites you to help keep our skaters safe by signing up to ice monitor for the fall 2020 semester.
  • If you have an all ice contract we ask that you sign up for 20 ice monitoring spots per semester.
  • If you have a fall contract we ask that you sign up for 10 spots.
  • If you have questions or have not served as an ice monitor before and need training, please talk with an AFSC board member

New to the fall 2020 semester - all ice arena user groups have been asked to assist with sanitizing the arena between events in order to cut down on the transition time. The second time slot each day is for a shorter amount of ice monitoring time, but includes additional time to put away the equipment and help sanitize the arena before the next group comes in. The sanitizing can be completed in 15 minutes. If you signed up for ice monitor spot that is labeled "Ice Monitor and Sanitizing," then you'll need to help with disinfecting/sanitizing. The process is listed below:
  1. Pick up the disinfectant and gloves if you want them from the cashier's station.
  2. At the end of our ice time when everyone has exited the building, spray down the following things in this order:
  • The push handles on the front doors for the entrance and exit sides
  • The backrest and seats of blue chairs if skaters were using them (probably will need to do this more for LTS than Club ice)
  • The ledges underneath the concession stand, by the Igloo room, and by the locker area if we see that skaters/parents were leaning around them (again, probably more for LTS than Club ice, Taylor says)
  • The baseboards by the rink and the handles that open the door the rink
  • The red benches back by the baseboards
  • The ice monitor area when it's used
  • The bathrooms:
    • Spray the faucets in the sink and the pump part of the soap dispenser mounted on the wall
    • Spray the toilet handles and toilet seats in each stall
    • Spray the locks on each stall door
