Committee and Event Chairs
The Ames Figure Skating Club (AFSC) has several standing committees dedicated to supporting the club’s mission and ensuring a well-rounded experience for its members. - Manages member recruitment, registration, and retention
- Ensures the club follows SafeSport guidelines by promoting a safe environment, handling compliance, and addressing any concerns related to misconduct or athlete safety
- Coordinates and schedules skating tests, manages test applications, and ensures skaters are prepared and eligible for US Figure Skating test sessions
- Organizes and oversees club competitions, managing logistics, scheduling, and communication with skaters, officials, and volunteers to ensure successful events
- Works with the show director to plan and coordinate the annual spring ice show, overseeing everything from theme selection and rehearsals to costumes, props, and event logistics, ensuring a memorable performance for skaters and the audience
- Plans and coordinates the annual holiday show, overseeing everything from registration to day-of event logistics to provide a wonderful evening of skating for skaters and spectators
- Organizes and oversees the club’s fall season opening event, coordinating activities, schedules, educational materials, and welcoming skaters to start the new season on a positive note
- Mentors and guides the Junior Board, helping young skaters develop leadership skills while organizing club activities, community outreach, and supporting club events
- Organizes and coordinates figure skating performances during Iowa Wild hockey game intermissions, managing logistics, skater participation, and communication with event staff to ensure smooth and successful performances
- Plans and oversees fundraising activities, coordinating efforts to generate financial support for the club’s programs, events, and operational needs
- Manages all internal and external communications, including emails, social media, and website updates, ensuring members and the community stay informed about club activities and events
